McLaren Automotive Limited is a British car manufacturer. This company was established as a producer of cars based on motorsports technology. The McLaren F1 is a rear-wheel drive two-door coupe. It was the fastest supercar and innovative car as well, thanks to its creator Gordon Murray. One of the innovations in the model was the use of carbon fiber for the car’s chassis. The McLaren F1 weight decreased also thanks to the brakes with aluminum calipers and control arms made of aluminum alloy. Developing the F1 a lot of attention was paid even to trivial things. For instance, the lid together with compartment was covered with pure gold in order to protect the carbon body from the heat. The McLaren P1 concept version was shown in Paris in 2012 and a year later the company demonstrated the interior and the technical characteristics at the Geneva Motor Show. The McLaren P1 is based on 100-pound carbon fiber monocoque with a hole in the roof. Most body parts are made of carbon fiber. Generally, the body is designed for the maximum aerodynamics. The creators say that this car is affected by 600 kg of downforce at high speed. The supercar is equipped with aerodynamic components in front and rear spoiler with adjustable angle of attack. The rear spoiler is electronically controlled and adjusts the position automatically depending on the speed. McLaren developers together with colleagues from Akebono have created an effective carbon ceramic braking system, which was the unique feature for the serial car. In addition, the P1 has received the exclusive PirelliP Zero Corsa tires, made specifically for this model.
